(10/18/2009) Horsham Lacrosse Club (HLC) met with Horsham Township Tuesday, October 13, 2009 to confirm our use of the fields at Chestnut Creek Park. We have been assured by the Township that we have these fields for both practice and games for the duration of the lacrosse season.
As most are aware, there appears to be two lacrosse clubs for the 2010 spring season, Horsham Lacrosse Club (HLC) and Hatboro-Horsham Hawks Lacrosse Club (HH Hawks). HLC has served the Hatboro-Horsham lacrosse community for many years. Our membership has grown year over year, last season we had 180 boys playing lacrosse for our organization. Hawks lacrosse is a newly formed club and affiliated with the local football program.
The HLC Board Members and Coaches are all parents within our organization. We all share a single goal to provide the boys of Hatboro-Horsham the opportunity to have fun while learning skills, teamwork and sportsmanship that is part of the Lacrosse tradition and to act as a feeder program for the Hatboro-Horsham High School Lacrosse Team.
This year you as parents and players are faced with the difficult decision of choosing a lacrosse club. We understand how important this is to a player and his family and we would like to share some very important information that we believe you should consider when making your club selection.
The HLC Advantage: Our club has been in existence for many years and we are financially stable. We have seasoned coaches and support from outside organizations. Horsham Lacrosse Club (HLC) offers both an Instructional Program and a Competitive Program.
HLC Instructional Program:
Our Young Guns Program is designed for boy’s 2nd - 4th grades. It is a non-contact instructional league with 8-10 games per season with other clubs in the area. Our coaches have been coaching with us for the past few years and have children in this program as well as the Hatboro-Horsham High School Lacrosse Program. For the past 5 years, HLC has hosted the Young Guns Invitational Tournament that includes Young Guns Teams from Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The tournaments have been very successful and have provided a fun filled day of lacrosse for both players and families.
HLC Competitive Program: Our Competitive Program is our biggest advantage over any other boy’s lacrosse club in Hatboro-Horsham area and is offered to boys in Grades 5-6 and Grades 7-8. We are a member of Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (SEPYLA) which is the overseeing organization of the boy’s youth lacrosse league in PA, NJ and DE. It is comprised of 34 youth programs from these three states with close to 200 teams and 4,000 boys from 3rd to 8th grade. SEPYLA provides the game schedules and referees for all member organizations for the spring lacrosse season. The goal of SEPYLA is to foster the development of strong high school lacrosse programs by encouraging and supporting competitive school-district based youth lacrosse programs. HLC is the only club in Hatboro-Horsham that is a Member of Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (SEPYLA).
All 5th - 8th grade boys and select 3rd-4th graders will be playing in the SEPYLA Competitive Schedule. The boys will be assigned teams based on skill level
• 3rd – 4th will play C1 division
• 5th – 6th will play B1, B2 or B3 division
• 7th – 8th will play A1, A2 or A3 division
Our players will continue to receive ongoing instruction; they will also play 8-10 games per season against the other member organizations in the SEPYLA North Division - see below or go to www.sepyla.org
Abington, Central Bucks, Conshohocken, Council Rock, Crooked Cross, Deep Run, Horsham, Lansing (Phila),Lower Bucks, Norristown, Northeast (Phila), North Penn, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Perk Valley, Souderton, Spartan, Upper Moreland, Warrington and Wissahickon
There are playoff and league championship games for the A1 and B1 divisions. Something important to note is that SEPYLA is the same league that most of our Hatboro-Horsham High School Lacrosse Stars participated in prior to moving to the high school program and no other boy’s lacrosse club in Hatboro-Horsham can offer your son this competitive level of play during the spring lacrosse season.
Your Decision
We urge you to consider the HLC advantage when evaluating your options. The boys in our organization will continue to play with and learn from each other through youth, middle school and high school lacrosse programs. The players your son will compete against and learn from in the SEPYLA League are the same players he will compete with the in the middle school, high school and summer lacrosse programs. WE think this is very cool and it is the biggest advantage of playing for Horsham Lacrosse Club.
We hope the information we have shared will make your decision easier and know that whatever you decide, we will understand and respect it. Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. We hope to see you at registration 11/9, 11/11 and 11/14.
Sincerely,
Horsham Lacrosse Club
